On Wednesday 20th June Year 2 enjoyed a wonderful sports day. As you can see from our photos we had great fun! We tried lots of different events, including some we had never tried before. Thank you to all the parents who came to support and to Mr Gill for organising it.
Today we went to the Multiskills event at Billesley Tennis Centre. We took part in 10 different events including tennis skills, tag rugby, football shooting, kwik wicket and throwing and catching games. We worked in two groups travelled around the activities together. We were quite competitive! We enjoyed playing against each other but we were very good at congratulating the winning team each time.
The competition scores were all collected in and we will let you know how we got on when we find out. We enjoyed this event hugely and really improved our skills in all these areas of PE.
In our PE lessons this term we have been using our skills to play games. We have practised our throwing and catching skills to learn how to play benchball. It was a very fun game! We had to be skilful and choose when and who to pass to which made it a bit tricky sometimes.
Today we started to learn the skills to play hockey. We used a hockey stick and ball to practise control and passing. Over the next few weeks we will learn some of the rules so we can play a full game.
Today Year 2 went to a Multiskills competition. Our class split into three teams and we competed against other schools. We did lots of different activities like beanbag throw, rugby slalom and different running events.
We were one of the only schools who were cheering each other on! Well done Toucans, very good sportsmanship.
In our PE lessons we have been doing Dance. This was just our second lesson and look at our fantastic dances! We worked hard in our groups to practise and rehearse and then performed to the music. We then had an extra challenge to see if we could dance and sing at the same time!
Today we started to think about keeping fit and doing sports and exercise.

We then started to work on our own fitness video! Today we planned them by learning lots of different moves and deciding on our routine as a group. We are going to practise them ready to record next week… keep an eye on our blog!
