Florence Nightingale

In History Year 2 have been learning about Florence Nightingale. We have been learning all about her early life and her career. Today, we have been looking at photos of Florence and comparing her to modern day nurses. We noticed that nurses have changed drastically over the years and we think Florence Nightingale would love to work in a newer hospital.

We were able to draw portraits of Florence so that we could really look at how nurses would dress during the Crimean War.

Unique Emotions

In PSHE we have been learning about our emotions and what makes us unique. We were able to speak about the things that make us happy, sad and angry and how we can manage our emotions properly. We also spoke about things that make us unique, we all compared our hair, eyes and skin colours and had a look at our fingerprints!

In RE we have been looking at the 5 Pillars of Islam and how they support Muslims in following their religion. The children all had a go at practicing the Seven Movements of Prayer and were very respectful throughout.
One of the 5 Pillars of Islam is “Zakah” which promotes giving to charity. Lots of children were speaking about how they have given money and food to people in need which was really lovely to hear!

Exploring Technology

In Year 2, we have been looking at different types of Information Technology. We have been discussing the different features of computers and their similarities and differences. We have also been able to identify which items are classed as computers and which items are not. We looked at a variety of different photos and had to determine whether they were classed as technology or not.
