We also experimented in mixing paint to make green and then making it lighter or darker using white and black.

We made a painted background wash and then enjoyed collaging.

In art we will be making a rainforest collage. This week we first explored different materials how they can be scrunched, pinched, folded and ripped to make things.

In computing this half term we are looking at digital media. This includes understanding the importance of asking for permission before taking a photo and how we use technology to take photographs.
Today we learnt how we can use our laptops to take photos of ourselves. We also discussed how photos can be changed and what we see on the internet might not be true!

In Art we have been experimenting on mixing primary colours. Now we have used our skills to create a piece of art inspired by the great fire of London.

This week we have been learning about Mary Seacole.
We had a special lesson about respecting others and celebrating diversity.
We then learnt about Mary Seacole. we have listened to her story of how she, like Florence Nightingale, travelled so far to the Crimea to help many soldiers. Mary Seacole, unlike Florence, had to use her own money and was not allowed to open a hospital. She was both clever and smart as she opened the hospital by calling it a hotel. Her hospital was set up very close to where the fighting was.
All us felt it was wrong for Mary to be treated unfairly and that she was so heroic in using her own money to go and help them. We also decided it was unfair to be judged by the colour of your skin and are very glad at how wonderful our class is as we have all unique children.
We then drew a picture of her and talked about all the facts we had learnt. Did you know you can find even more about her by clicking here?!
